The chao shook it's head no. After a moment, it yawned widely, it's sharp pointed teeth on full display as it did so. Finishing the yawn, it blinked hazily. Funny, the sleepiness came on quickly...
Knuckles smiled at him. He was just too cute. “It is late, isn’t it.” He picked up the chao and brought him to his bed. “I don’t have any other place for you to sleep, so you’ll just have to sleep here with me, okay?”
The chao shook it's head. Apparently it had had enough grapes for now. "Nu mo."
"Alright." Knuckles put the grape in his own mouth. …Now what, though? What does one do with a chao? He tried to remember the few times he’d been in a chao garden. "Do you want to color? I think I have some old crayons somewhere…"
Knuckles gave the chao one more hug before sitting on the desk. “There we go. Be more careful next time, okay?” He gave it another grape to appease it. And his conscience. Maybe it was best he didn’t have puggles if he let them fall off of desks like that.
The chao blinked, the pain fading from it's expression and morphing into a mixture of surprise and... quite a bit of concern, really. ... very concerned, even. It squirmed in Knuckles's grasp, but the longer it was held, the less it flailed. It seemed like it was fighting two parts of itself, one that didn't want to be held and another that did. But... chao enjoy being comforted. This one was no different, and with a resigned sigh, it seemed to give in.
Knuckles gave the chao a squeeze before pulling back to look at it. “All better?” He asked, continuing to pet its head lightly
Well... the chao didn't appear to be hurt, bruised, or otherwise damaged, though from it's expression and the swirly emote above it's head, it was upset by the fall. "Owuu..."
Knuckles pouted his lips at the chao. “Did you fall and go boom?” He pulled the chao into his chest, petting the back of its head. “There there…” Where was this puggle talk coming from. He really didn’t know, and was glad no one was there to see it.
The tickling was unexpected, and judging by the chao's surprised squeal and flailing backwards, unwanted. However, it just ended up flailing itself back, across, and -over- the edge of the desk, toppling to the ground with a thump. The impact was followed by a high pitched, chao-ish whine of pain. Whoops.
Knuckles flinched and let out a hiss. That wasn’t supposed to happen. He quickly dipped down and scooped the chao up to inspect it for injuries. A fine caretaker he was turning out to be.
It appeared the chao was quite hungry, as it didn't take long for each grape to disappear. After depleting the amount of grapes Knuckles had on hand, it sat back and eyed the echidna, seemingly considering what it should do next. It seemed... amused? Yeah, that was the best description for it. In fact, it seemed to snicker at the noises Knuckles was making.
Knuckles grinned, showing his own pointed, though significantly more blunt, teeth. “You’re a hungry little guy, huh?” He tickled the chao’s tummy.
Indeed. The chao seemed... very pleased now, actually. It didn't help that the grapes were extraordinarily delicious to its chao sensibilities. Finishing up the last one, it licked its sharp fangs, eying the rest of the batch hungrily. "Mo?"
Knuckles chuckled. “Of course you can have more.” He grabbed a handful of them and fed them to the chao one by one. Really, it wasn’t bad having the little guy around. Even if he did remind him of a certain echidna… Especially with those teeth. But then, all chao had sharp teeth and strange features, so there wasn’t any reason to worry about this one. He continued to make chewing noises at it.
Again, another heart appeared. This time however the chao seemed not to notice, instead content on chewing on the grape it had been given. Tasty~. ... though, it could of apparently done without Knuckle's commentary. "Em na be be," it replied after swallowing the treat.
Having no idea what that meant, Knuckles saw the heart and assumed it was talking about the grapes. “Yeah, I love them too. Ready for another?” He held one up to its mouth again. “Ahhh~”
For the briefest of moments, the emote orb above the chao shifted to a heart. It then immediately shifted to an exclamation point, and then a swirl as the chao looked rather flustered, jerking away from the echidna. "Aibayoo eee!"
Knuckles pulled his hands back. “Alright! No touching.” He placed his hands on his lap instead. “What do you want to do then?” Not that he had many chao friendly things in his place… That could be a problem.
The chao stared in return, it's brow furrowed in... thought? Were chao deep thinkers? This one seemed to be thinking at least. For a moment it stopped and seemed to glance around the space they were in, and seemingly satisfied with what it saw, it nodded. "Aba, bah oo lee ee em la."
"Glad you’re happy at least." Knuckles rubbed the chao’s head again. There was no reason not to be nice to it while it was here. "Uh… Are you hungry?"
